Hand Torn Photographic Prints

Seldex Hand Torn Photographic Prints are printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag paper and feature hand torn edges.  Our craftsmen produce a beautiful deckled edge to give each print a unique feathered finish resulting in a wonderfully informal and artistic finish to fine art prints. Hahnemuhle Photo Rag paper is a white,100% cotton paper with a slightly textured surface weighing 308gsm and meets the highest industry standards regarding density, colour gamut, colour graduation and image sharpness while preserving the special touch and feel of genuine art paper.

Our printers use Canon's LUCIA EX pigment inks which combine the glossiness of dye ink with the vivid colors and weather resistance of pigment ink.  For the 12 LUCIA pigment inks, in addition to CMY ink colors, Canon developed special complementary RGB colors and two shades of gray, realizing an expanded range which enables greater overall balance. With LUCIA, vivid colors can now be achieved on a variety of media types.  The new LUCIA EX pigment ink system increased the color reproduction range by up to 20% by using more vivid pigments for all 12 colors and through the use of pigments with a variety of particle diameters. Furthermore, Canon has successfully produced a dark black using an ink design for raising the grade of black in order to meet the demand for high image quality from professional photographers and creators.

How do I create my files?

You need to use the Photoshop templates below to create your hand torn edge print file.  Download the files below and also the instructions on how to use the templates.  Make sure you save the file as a jpeg before ordering online.

Why are there 2 sets of pricing?

When you order 10 or more prints (the same size but they can be different files) then the price is dramatically reduced compared to the individual print price.

How should I handle my Fine Art prints?

Your prints are "fine art" and therefore handled as such.  Treat them as though they were an original painting as they are not as durable as lustre prints.  This also means fine art printing should be stored away from moisture and direct sunlight unless protected by acrylic like in our Mietta Frames.  When handling it is advisable to wear cotton gloves so any natural oils on your hands do not transfer to the print.

Can I order a custom size?

Yes you can!  Just make sure to crop it to the size you want (width x height), make sure the dpi is set to 300 and save it as a jpeg.  When you go to order it online make sure to select the next biggest size from our list and in the comments box make a note of what size you want the print to be printed at.  You will be paying for a larger size print but you also get the exact size you want.

Can I have a border on my prints?

Yes!  But you will need add this border when you use the Hand torn Photoshop templates prior to ordering them.

How long will my prints take?

Typical turnaround for photo prints are 3-5  business days from your order being processed.  This takes longer than traditional silver halide prints as the prints need to be individually trimmed and 100% dry before they are touched.  If you require them urgently please make a note in the comments box when placing your order and we will try our best to accomodate you.

Wait! Just one more step before you place your order.
