COMPANION ALBUMS

Create matching Companion Albums for parents or family members with one easy addition to your order.

• Companion Albums are 5.25x7" and feature the same page layouts and cover material as your main album. Layout or cover changes cannot be made.
• Companion Albums do you include a matching slipcase - they are packaged in a black presentation box.
• You can order up to 4 Companion Albums with your main album.

Album cover & slipcase design

You will need to design your album cover and slipcase in Photoshop or Canva using our templates.   These templates will clearly show the front and back cover areas, spine size as well as the album cover wrap areas.  Album covers templates are green, whilst slipcase cover templates are grey as per the samples below.  Download the templates on our Lifestyle Book cover design webpage.

We have also created a range of Lifestyle cover designs in Canva, you can use for free, to help make designing easier.  You don't have to use these designs but they are there if you need them!  Go to the Lifestyle Book cover design webpage for information on how to use these designs like the examples below.

Album page design

Creating a Seldex album is easy!  Whether you're new to designing layouts or are a seasoned professional, we're here to help you every step of the way.  

You cannot design your albums directly on our website as we do not have our own album design software, but we do provide recommendations for programs that we love in - in particular Pixellu Smart Albums or Fundy Designer.  Alternatively, if you don't want to do the design yourself, we do offer an album design service that you can take advantage of.  For information on the Seldex design service or design software options available check out our Album Design web page.

If you don't want to design your own album then we can do it for you!  We offer 3 different design options as listed below:

Album page design ONLY - we design the album pages, but not the album cover or slipcase
Album cover and Slipcase design ONLY - we design the album cover & slipcase from your choice of our standard designs, but not the album spreads
Album cover, slipcase and page design - we design everything!

File upload

You will need to upload your album files to these specifications - 

Size: you must upload double page spreads - for example a 10x10" album file should be 20x10"
File format:  JPEG
Colour space:   ADOBE RGB (1998) or sRGB
Pixels per inch:  300dpi

IMPORTANT
It is very important that your album layouts are correctly named to ensure they are mounted in the correct order.  For example 001, 002, 003 etc.  Most album design programs will export your files with the correct file names but it is a good idea to check these before uploading.  Please do not add any characters to your files names such as *, /, \, @, etc.

IMAGE COVER OPTIONS

Personalise your Lifestyle Book with a full image cover, printed on your choice of Silk or Fine Art Matte Paper. Both options are laminated to help protect your cover and provide a beautiful, durable finish.

• Silk – a cloth material with a subtle textured weave
• Fine Art Matte Paper – a smooth, non-reflective fine art paper

Choose from a simple Black or White lining, or add a personalised printed lining to complement your album design.

CREATING YOUR OWN PRINTED LINING

If you're creating your own printed lining, please supply your artwork as a double-page spread, using the same file specifications as your album pages.

Size: Double-page spread – for example, a 10 × 10" album requires a 20 × 10" file
File format: JPEG
Colour space: Adobe RGB (1998) or sRGB
Resolution: 300 dpi

SLIPCASE BASE MATERIAL

Your Lifestyle Book includes a matching personalised slipcase, made in two sections – the printed outer cover featuring your artwork and the internal slipcase base.

Choose your slipcase base from the following material ranges:

• Linen
• Asahi
• Buckram

We offer several ways to view our materials before ordering. As colours can vary between computer screens, we highly recommend investing in our physical material swatches, particularly if you would like to show material options to your clients.

You can also view our material colours online or download our digital swatches.

We have various options for viewing material swatches.  We highly encourage everyone to invest in our physical material swatches so your clients can touch and see the different materials as colours viewed on computer monitors can vary.  We do have the option to view material colours online or you can also download digital swatches.

VELLUM TITLE PAGE

Add a beautiful finishing touch to your Lifestyle Book with a personalised vellum title page.

STUDIO LOGO EMBOSSING

Add your studio logo inside your Lifestyle Book for a personalised, professional finish.

Studio logos can be embossed inside the front cover, flyleaf or back cover when you select our standard Black or White linings. Studio logos cannot be embossed onto Printed Linings.

When ordering, choose from:

• Yes – use existing die
• Yes – new studio die required

If this is your first time ordering Studio Logo Embossing, select “Yes – new studio die required.” This includes the one-off cost of creating your custom metal embossing die.

Please upload a black and white high-resolution JPEG of your studio logo with your album files and let us know the width you would like your logo to be.

Once your die has been created, it is kept on file for future orders. You can then select the lower-cost “Yes – use existing die” option when ordering.

TIP: If you would prefer to avoid the Studio Logo Embossing surcharge, you can incorporate your full-colour studio logo into the first or last album spread instead.

Simply add them when ordering your main album – we'll take care of creating the matching smaller versions.
